European Blackjack

European Blackjack is the most popular version of blackjack in Europe and has been around for a number of years already. European Blackjack can be found in both traditional casinos as well as most online casinos UK.  Its popularity lies in the fact that while it’s quite a strategic game, it’s quite easy to understand and play.  As with all other variations of blackjack, European Blackjack is played against a dealer.  The main objective of the game is trying to get as close to 21 without going bust.

With European Blackjack, cards are dealt a little differently.  The dealer is only dealt one card and this is placed face up on the table.  The players at the table are then dealt their cards and complete their hand.  Once the players have completed their hand, the dealer is dealt his or her remaining cards.  As you can imagine, this version of Blackjack can be quite thrilling and nail biting all at the same time.

How to Play European Blackjack

Essentially, there are a few rules that are different in European Blackjack that new players need to be aware of.  Firstly, two full decks of standard playing cards are used in the game.  Players are limited in terms of the number of times they are allowed to split and may only do so once.  Unlike other variants of Blackjack, with European Blackjack, if you split two Aces, additional cards can be dealt to each Ace. You are not able to split ten-valued cards unless they are alike.  For example, you can split two Kings, however, you cannot split a 10 and a King. When it comes to doubling down, players can only do so on hands that are worth 9, 10 or 11.  Doubling down is when a player believes one more card is needed to reach 21 and they decide to double their bet.  Generally, when a player has a 10 or 11 in their hand they would may consider doubling down.

Payouts

The odds of European Blackjack are the same as the Classic Blackjack version with payouts of 3 to 2.   The house edge of European Blackjack is 0.42%

More About European Blackjack Online

Online casinos UK offer both a standard version of European Blackjack as well as a multi-hand version of the game for the player who likes to multi-task.  With the online version of European Blackjack, the entire deck of cards is shuffled before any cards are dealt. Some versions of the game also offer an auto-play option.  When selecting the auto-play option, the program will use the strategy you have selected and then allows you to modify the number of deals, as well as the speed of play and when to stop.

As with every casino game, there is always an element of luck involved.  However, Blackjack is still considered a game of skill as you need to have a strategic train of thought in order to excel.
