Classic Online Blackjack

The game of Blackjack or “21” has always proved to be a popular choice among players at both traditional and online casinos in the UK.  In recent years, many different variations of blackjack have come into existence; however, Classic Blackjack is still considered the most traditional version of the game.

Classic Black Jack is played with a single deck of cards. However, in many instances, the game is played with multiple decks of cards. Adding multiple decks of the cards to the game makes it increasingly difficult for players to predict the next card based on what has already been seen.  This ultimately increases the house edge.

When playing blackjack at a traditional land-based casino, the table will usually have between 1 and 7 players.  However, at online casinos UK, players have the option of playing at a private table or playing with multiple players.

How to play Classic Blackjack

The object of the game is to beat the dealer by getting as close as possible to the sum of 21 with your hand of cards without going over.  Both the player and the dealer are dealt two cards each.  The dealer’s cards are dealt with one card facing up and the second card facing down.  Once the initial cards have been dealt, players can request the dealer to “hit”, which is essentially asking the dealer for additional cards in the hopes of getting closer to 21.  Players can also choose to “stand”, or keep their hand as is.   Blackjack is a strategic game that requires a good understanding of when to “hit” and when to “stand”.  When player’s hand of cards goes over 21, this is referred to as “bust”.

Rules of Classic Blackjack

There are a few simple rules to this game. Firstly, the dealer has to stand on all hands that total 17 and is required to hit on all hands that total 16.   In certain instances, the rules of Blackjack enable the doubling of bets.  However, each gaming site will have its own rules of how and when you can double your bet.  For example, some establishments restrict you to only being able to double your bet on a 9, 10 or 11.  Should you receive two of the same cards you have the option of splitting the pair to make two different hands.

Payouts

With Classic Blackjack, players generally receive a 3 to 2 payout.  This generally means that for every $50 wagered a player will earn $75 for every blackjack they hold.  In more modern versions of Blackjack, you will often find lower payout ratios of 6 to 5 and even 7 to 5.  So be sure to review the payout tables before deciding which version of the game to play.

This is a wildly entertaining game and is ideal for players who enjoy a good mental challenge and strategic thinking.
